After the queen is dead, take out the leftover eggs. I've found the best way is with a Fatman and a couple of mini nukes. You start by meeting Preston and several other Minutemen at The Castle and after a brief discussion, You'll need to clear out some mirelurk eggs, after which a giant Mirelurk Queen will attack you and the other Minutemen.

I would say after about 2-3 hours, and a couple more Minutemen missions, I got a mission from Preston called “Old Guns”. Seriously, Mutants, Raiders, Synths, Gunners, Ghouls, Dogs, Molerats and Mirelurks. Do this with your Power Armor because you are going to have to fight every type of enemy on your way there. This is the mission you will want to do to take The Castle. Keep doing missions for him until he asks you to retake The Castle.Įventually Preston will give you the mission “Taking Independence”. This happens pretty early on, after you do a couple of missions for Preston. First off you will need to be the General of the Minutemen.
